Demise of the book?

News of another e-book supplier has been announced in The Times today. Amazon is hoping to launch Kindle in the UK shortly.

To quote:

It has been reported that the online retailer Amazon is in the final stages of preparation to launch its Kindle e-book in the United Kingdom.
According to a report on the
Mobile Today website, Amazon has handed the responsibility for manufacture and connectivity of the device to Qualcomm in the UK. Previous discussions between Amazon and UK operators, including Vodafone and Orange, have been unsuccessful.
Amazon launched the Kindle in the United States in late 2007. The Kindle uses mobile phone technology to deliver books, newspaper subscriptions and special offers to its users.

I have posted on this before in September last year and my feelings haven't changed since then.

We will have to wait for further developments and see if this trend does revolutionise the way we read.
